Bayou Country Superfest Returns With Bigger Schedule For 5th Year: All You Need To Know

Bayou Country Superfest expands to three days for the first time this weekend of Memorial Day, thanks to a move made to accommodate the schedule headliner, George Strait. That means Tiger Stadium became a cathedral dedicated to football, but not country music May 23, 24 and 25, and tickets are still on sale.

Besides Strait, the line also includes Reba, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Chris Young, Florida Georgia, Lee Brice, and Easton Corbin, Gloriana, Louisiana native Hunter Hayes, Big & Rich and Joe Nichols Lane.



The festival celebrates its fifth year in 2014, and little has changed in the design, the performance of country music giant arena style since creation. (Hi-fi purists, however, might notice some sonic changes in Tiger Stadium, thanks to the addition of new seats, currently under construction on the upper decks - . In the south end zone)

The Basics: Bayou Country Superfest is produced by Festival Productions, Inc., of New Orleans, the same people who put together the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. This massive festival arena style, however, is a different animal.

With a house inside Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, this festival features a number of artists featured -back- to-back on the same stage , which sits above the north end zone . Tickets are sold online and start at $ 35 for a single day. It's summer in Baton Rouge , so check to see if it will be on the side of the shade on the sunny west or east side of the stadium. New for 2014, the majority of seats behind the south end zone will be based on a first come, first seated basis in an area they are calling "Tiger Plaza.”

Party Hard, Party Early: From faithfully the typical use of Tiger Stadium, tailgating is an integral part of making your Bayou Country Superfest large. Besides tailgating, Fan Fest gets the party started early in the shadows of the stadium and behind the building of the LSU Athletic Department. This year, starts at 14:00 on Friday and 11:30 am Saturday and Sunday. Check out the Artist Meet & Greet, DJs play local radio stations and see live music.

Park It: A number of items LSU Bayou Country Superfest parking is offered. Prices start at $ 20 and go up to $ 40 for the nearby locations. RV parking is available in "Touchdown Village,"a lot between Gourrier Lane and Nicholson Extension. The RV lot will open on Thursday at 17:00, but that happens and is not for sale.

Other institutions in the city have previously offered a shuttle from downtown Baton Rouge to the stadium, and will update this post with information as it becomes available.

Family: Bayou Country Superfest is generally family friendly, nice. Children under 2 will be admitted without a ticket, but no seat is provided.

Just do: Items prohibited inside Tiger Stadium include umbrellas, outside food and beverages, coolers, professional cameras, flags, weapons and backpacks and bigger than a standard piece of copy paper bags.

Stay awhile: The event website offers a neat data base of hotels in Baton Rouge for the weekend, what they have available and at what cost. As for extracurricular activities, spaces in the city such as mud and water, the Varsity Theatre and the Moon have Spanish music planned for that weekend. Feeling more relaxed? Try Radio Bar, Lock & Key Bar Whiskey Blend or center for a drink. If you want to continue the party, go to the center of Third Street in a popular series of bars with a lively nightlife.
