George Strait closes out Bayou Country Superfest with class

Country music fans love George Strait. A total of 53,518 of them filled the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to the brim on Sunday (May 27), when the old-school troubadour triumphantly closed the Bayou Country Superfest 2018 in New Orleans.

Strait rolled one blow after another like vans on Press Street: "Write this down", "Rollin 'on the river of love", "Check yes or no", "Leave it", "The chair", "Beachfront property, and so on."

Strait probably would have filled out the two-hour set (and then something) with some dark songs from his many later albums, but it's not certain that Strait has dark songs.

The country's 66-year-old semi-retired Texas-born king arrived on stage with a timeless combination of a smart western-shirted cowboy, boots, grumpy black hat and blue jeans held up by a press with a buckle. belt as big as an old signal from the standard service station on the interstate.

Strait served his icy hooks in a voice as clear and strong as Jose Cuervo Silver. His act is well practiced, fast and precise. His behavior is completely great and elegant. It is as starched as his impeccable shirt, you could say.

Which made it especially delightful when Strait paused unexpectedly between the numbers and silently said "yanny" into the microphone. While the audience murmured confusedly, he repeated it. Then he asked: "Do you listen to yanny or Laurel?"
